Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing brings me joy. Stories connect us. In our divided world, that may be more important than ever.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Stop writing. Read. Go for a run. Live life. I am refreshed, and my writing always awaits me.

What is your favorite time to write? Early morning, before sunrise, when everything is still and new and I am fresh.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Hemingway said, “We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.” Writing isn’t a task to be completed. It’s a journey.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Being able to invite people to pause and think more deeply.

Don Tassone’s Musings: 75 Short Stories is out now with ‎ Toerner Press.
