Industry & Advocacy News
February 22, 2015
Welcome to the new Authors Guild website, a home for every author, where writers can come to discuss the writing life.
The redesign consists of two portals: one accessible to anyone browsing the Internet, the other accessible only to Authors Guild members logged in with a password. The public-facing pages tell the story of who we are and what we do, pointing to the full range of services we provide and presenting our ongoing advocacy and litigation.
Authors Guild membership provides access to the site’s members-only content, which includes, among other features, our new interactive Forum, where we can talk about any number of topics impacting the writing life, from the nuts-and-bolts issues that make up the business of writing to current controversies in the industry and the future of writing as a livelihood.
Authors Guild members have access to the whole panoply of services we offer through the members-only portal: our full range of web and legal services, including Sitebuilder, as well as searchable electronic editions of The Writer’s Legal Guide and The Model Trade Book Contract and Commentary. The Event Calendar lets members list their own events, and it highlights contest submission deadlines, festivals, and conferences of general interest. The members-only site also allows members to create a profile in the Member Directory, where members can list their books, areas of interest, and more. The directory is public and searchable by literary agents, bookstores, and anyone else looking for writers. And now you can easily join and renew your membership online.
The new site will also contain new news pieces and blogs several times a week that update or report on the topics of greatest concern to working American writers. All past blogs will be archived and searchable.
We hope you’re as excited as we are for our new home.
