Maika and Maritza Moulite, sisters and co-authors of One of the Good Ones, join us for From Manuscript to Marketplace. Designed with an audience of fellow writers in mind, From Manuscript to Marketplace offers case studies of the path to publication and candid conversations about the current realities of publicity, social media, virtual events, working with agents and editors, and more. Each event provides a unique portrait of the collaborative process behind the scenes. In discussing One of the Good Ones, Maika and Maritza will discuss the process and considerations that go into co-authoring and give their advice for selling your option book on proposal, conducting a virtual book tour, and more.
If you would like to purchase One of the Good Ones, we recommend using one of the links on Maika’s and Maritza’s website.
PANELISTS
Maritza Moulite graduated from the University of Southern California with a master’s in journalism, but her favorite job has been being a Head Start literacy tutor. She loved working with kids so much that she is now a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania exploring ways to improve literacy through children’s media. Her favorite song is “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire.Photo by Lydi’Ann Mary
Maika Moulite is a Miami native and the daughter of Haitian immigrants. She loves writing: books, think pieces, journal entries, neverending lists, you name it. When she’s not scribbling every random thought into her notes app, she’s sharpening her skills as a Howard University PhD student. (That means more writing.) She’s the eldest of four sisters and loves audiobooks, fierce female leads, and laughing. Photo by Lydi’Ann Mary
17-just-turned-18-year-old Kezi Smith dies under mysterious circumstances in police custody after attending a social justice rally. To commemorate their history buff sister’s life, Happi and Genny Smith embark on a journey using Kezi’s heirloom copy of the Negro Motorist Green Book. One of the Good Ones will leave you shaken and wondering what it means to be an ally.
Special thanks to Las Musas for collaborating with the Authors Guild Foundation on this event.
