For writers, at least, writing is the best way to convey information, thoughts, emotions, and stories. Writing enables a person to share their mind and values with the world in a way that is both intimate and comfortable. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I counter writer’s block, which I rarely have, by switching to another project. If I’m stuck at some point in a novel, I might write a short essay, perhaps for my Substack, The Pleasure Principle. Soon, I am longing to return to the novel! What is your favorite time to write? Anytime I’m alone I can write, but strangely enough I seem to be most productive at the end of the day, when I “should” be making dinner. So we usually eat at around 8! What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? “If there’s a book you want to read but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” —Toni Morrison What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Although it’s a challenge, it’s also thrilling to interact with readers directly through comments, email, and social media. Catherine Hiller’s Cybill Unbound is out now with Heliotrope Books LLC.
