As a long-time educator- teacher and school principal- writing was an essential tool for me in the critical communications I had with all stakeholders: students, staff, families, and the community. I also knew the power of picture books in educating about important and sometimes controversial issues in our lives. They speak to and can change all. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Making tea! Taking breaks. Walking, breathing (mindfulness), and remembering the importance of getting back to it! What is your favorite time to write? Mornings. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Remember your audience- and speak to them! What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I know the power—still—of the written word. In the age of online and virtual communication, there is still an essential place for it!
