Member Spotlight: Susen Edwards

author Susen Edwards and her book Lookin' for Love

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing allows me to create and connect with others. I hope I can make a difference in my readers’ lives through my stories.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I’m having one right now!! Seriously, before I get to my computer, I’ll mentally review what I plan to write that day. If inspiration eludes me I’ll post on social media or edit something I’ve already written. Sometimes no matter how hard I try, the words don’t come. Rather than beat myself up, I’ll practice forgiveness and move on to something else.

What is your favorite time to write? I begin writing mid-morning after I’ve done a cardio and a yoga workout. My head is clear and I’m energized. Most days I’ll write for a few hours, take a break, and if I’m inspired, I’ll come back to my desk in the late afternoon.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Never give up! If you have a story to tell, you’ll find a way to bring it to the world.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I love that writers have so many options for publishing and readers have so many outlets for reading and connecting with authors.
