Member Spotlight: Kathleen Sara McFall

author Kathleen McFall and her book Poetric Justice

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing fiction is a way to help readers interpret the world, seeing it through new, varied and evolving perspectives. When writers create, we shine a light on assumptions about life, allow readers to escape into different worlds, generate laughter, and remind us all what it means to be human.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Tenacity and caffeine.

What is your favorite time to write? Different times of day or night tend to produce different outcomes, so my favorite time shifts depending on what I’m writing. For example, morning is for clarity and precision, while late night is for musing.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Don’t give up. Ever. It’s a hard life, and rejection truly bites, but just keep on because what else would you do with yourself?

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I am most excited about the many ways that writers in today’s age have to connect directly with readers.
