The Authors Guild is investigating Silver Ink Literary Agency in response to several complaints from authors of receiving letters that Silver Ink sent on behalf of the Authors Guild to solicit book proposals. The scam letters falsely state that the Authors Guild and leading publishers have formed a task force to solicit book proposals, with Silver Ink acting as an agent, and ask for contributions toward the service’s cost. Some authors have reported paying thousands of dollars to the scammers on the promise of publishing their books.
