Like so many other authors, I write to explore issues and feelings surrounding those issues that I don’t understand. I read to identity how characters are like me or unlike me, to recognize that I am not alone, and to broaden my worldview. It’s an imperative medium for that reason: to give us company in life, and make us more empathetic people. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Any motion that doesn’t require much focus so my brain can churn on its own in the background, while I am occupied by this other task, thereby relieving pressure to brainstorm about story: showering, washing dishes, cooking, walking, running. What is your favorite time to write? MORNING. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? READ. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I think the virtual events that have cropped up as a result of pandemic distancing might serve us to connect with readers in a way we didn’t consider before.
