Writing is important to me because it allows me to express my thoughts, share my experiences, and connect with others on a profound level. It provides a platform for self-expression and reflection, helping me to explore and understand complex ideas and emotions. Through writing, I can influence, inspire, and contribute to meaningful conversations, making a lasting impact on my readers and the world around me. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Two effective ways I work through writer’s block are taking regular breaks and engaging in freewriting. Taking breaks allows my mind to rest and rejuvenate, often leading to fresh perspectives and renewed creativity when I return to writing. Freewriting, on the other hand, involves writing continuously without worrying about grammar, structure, or topic. This technique helps me bypass internal censors, unlock creative potential, and can lead to unexpected insights and ideas that reignite my writing process. Both strategies are tried and tested, providing a balance between rest and creative flow. What is your favorite time to write? My best writing is in the morning between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM. On average, I write 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and 4 hours on Saturday. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? The best writing advice I have ever received is to write with authenticity and vulnerability. This means being true to my own voice, experiences, and emotions, and not shying away from sharing them openly and honestly. I share this advice with other writers because writing from the heart not only creates a deeper connection with readers but also makes the writing process more fulfilling and meaningful. Authenticity in writing fosters trust, relatability, and impact, resonating powerfully with the audience. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? What excites me most about being a writer in today’s age is the unparalleled access to diverse audiences and the myriad of platforms available for sharing my work. The digital age offers countless opportunities for publishing, from traditional books to blogs and social media, allowing me to reach readers worldwide instantly. Additionally, the abundance of online resources, communities, and tools empowers me to continuously improve my craft and connect with other writers and readers. This interconnectedness and the ability to engage with a global audience makes the writing journey incredibly dynamic and rewarding. Donald T.
