Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing is a passion for me. I started writing after retirement and it keeps me busy and mentally active. Writing is fulfilling, but sharing my writing is fulfilling. Entertainment and escape from day-to-day activities are provided by the written word. Better than watching movies and TV shows, a reader can engage their imagination when they read a story and lose themselves in another place.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I have a tendency to think through any stuck or unsettled parts of a story at night while in bed. I’ve also used coloring to allow my mind to wander and think freely about my ideas to reach a starting point. Yeah, break out the Crayolas!

What is your favorite time to write? I’ll write any time of day. Having the luxury of retirement gives me lots of free time!

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Write about what you’re passionate about. And don’t forget to read. Read about the craft of writing and read stories you like.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The ability to reach so many readers!
