Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Personally, writing satisfies the pleasure I get in story telling and challenges me to stay cognitively sharp. As for the world, writing will always have a role to play in mankind’s desire to create and remember.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Get out of my chair and do something else. Sometimes for a few minutes, other times for days at a time.

What is your favorite time to write? Afternoons. Mornings are for business and evenings are for reading.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? “Nobody Wants To Read Your Sh*t,” by Steven Pressfield.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Meeting other writers and learning by reading their work.

James W. White’s Carp Café is out now with Adelaide Books.
