Member Spotlight: Jiri Klobouk

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? We can’t separate writing from other venues of Art. And only in Art we can find answers to question what is the essence of sanity.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? We suffer from writer’s block when we try too hard to connect sentence with the next one. I mentioned this to my doorman. He answered: Sir, if you get stuck write something about your parents. And it worked.

What is your favorite time to write? After 10 AM writing, after 10 PM reading.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Write only when you are convinced you have something new to say in different way.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Being alive for better or worse.

Jiri Klobouk’s How High the Moon is out now with Rain Mountain Press.
