Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world?

I write to fully explore my experience in this life, and when I feel I h ve something important to say. Writing is a window into experiences we may not have ourselves and opens our understanding of the world.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I sometimes delve into research when I can’t seem to write. Going for a walk or getting out of my usual routine work well for me too. Putting the work aside for a little while is helpful at times.

What is your favorite time to write? Morning into early afternoon. After 3, I am no good!

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Make a schedule, set a daily goal, either an amount of time or word count.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Talking to other people about books and writing and being able to reach a wide audience.

Judy L. Mandel’s White Flag is out now with‎ Legacy Book Press.
