Member Spotlight: Kathy L Wheeler

author Kathy Wheeler and an image of her bookCaptivated By His Countess

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing keeps me sane, grounded, and my head in the clouds. It just works for me.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Most of the time, if there is an issue, I force myself to write 1000 words of whatever. Doing this, inevitably, gets you back on track. Even if you have to throw out a lot of that 1000 words.

What is your favorite time to write? Daytime usually. My routine is simple. I get all of the logging (numbers) out of the way first thing in the morning. Check email, and create social posts. I then write, starting around 10am until 4, 5, or 6.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? “Sit your ass in the chair and write” and “You can’t edit a blank page”

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? It’s tough. But as I said before it keeps me sane, and grounded, while allowing my head to float about the clouds.

Kathy L. Wheeler’s Captivated by His Countess is out March 7 with Chisel Imprint.
