Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world?
Writing allows me to put my swirling thoughts down on paper in black and white, creating a sense of peace. It provides me a venue to connect the dots from my past to my future. And that venue allows me to stop long enough to understand the present. In return, writing is an important medium because it allows the writer to express thoughts, emotions and perceptions in words that evoke the same responses in the reader.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block?
Thoughts are nudged into being from the exposure of life. Thus it is in the stepping away from the story and into the living that enables me to reflect, redesign, and move forward in my story. Yet, the words themselves do not formulate into the needed sentences until just before I drift off to sleep. Therefore, I keep a notepad and pen nearby to jot down my story as the words tumble out. And yet, it is not until I have finished my piece and sent it off to my sister before my true writing begins! For it is in the act of sending that my creativity is released!

What is your favorite time to write?

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers?
The shorter the piece, the more work you will need to do in order to create a concise and cohesive writing.
