Member Spotlight: Pam Peirce

author Pam Peirce and her book Golden Gate Gardening

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? It is important to share special information I have that may make life easier, more enjoyable, or more comprehensible for others. It is a way for humans to share information, not only among the living, but with those who come after us.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I don’t have writer’s block.

What is your favorite time to write? I can write whenever I am free to do it. Sometimes that is early in the morning, sometimes after dinner, sometimes other times. All are good.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? If you have something to say and a determination to see it through to the end–revise it if someone you respect suggests you do so, learn about the publishing business–you will find a way into print.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I am excited that we can reach each other by the internet. There can be a wonderful interplay between print and online promotion and writing.

Pam Peirce’s Golden Gate Gardening: The Complete Guide to Year-Round Food Gardening in the San Francisco Bay Area & Coastal California (30th Anniversary Ed.) is out August 15 with ‎Sasquatch Books.
