Writing is important to me because I have something I want to say. It is important enough to work on and revise until it is the best I can do. Writing is an important medium for the world because literature creates empathy in a way nothing else does. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Force myself to sit in front of my computer for at least an hour no matter how difficult. Look at old manuscripts to revise. Try to keep going until I feel like I can do it again. What is your favorite time to write? I feel most creative in the morning. Eight to twelve is usually best for me. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Don’t bore your reader! What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The availability of multiple formats for the work is exciting. In children’s books, the emphasis on own voices and diversity is very exciting. There is so much astounding new work from every point of view. Pamela Mayer’s Peek-a-Boo Passover, illustrated by Viviana Garofoli, is out now with Kar-Ben Publishing.
