Writing has always been my preferred mode of communication because it affords me an opportunity to be succinct and clear. That doesn’t mean that comes easily; quite the contrary. The English language is rich and full and it calls for strict discipline. And when it comes to fiction, these challenges are amplified. The written word is important to the world because the world needs to be exposed to different thoughts, perspectives and interpretations. Democracy and freedom are rooted in clear communication of all genres. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Take a long walk. What is your favorite time to write? Early morning. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Believe in yourself as a writer with a unique perspective. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? An undying love for literature–both my own and that of the reading public. Toby Brookes’s All That She Brings is out now with Bookbaby.
