On April 2, 2024, the Authors Guild wrote a letter to the New York City Council, asking them to provide enhanced funding for the city’s public libraries in this year’s budget. The New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, and Queen Public Library face unprecedented budget cuts that will have devastating impacts on its ability to serve New Yorkers effectively.
We call on the mayor and city council to give the financial needs of the city’s public libraries due consideration in their budget calculations.
