Writing has always been a means of escaping the everyday worries and responsibilities of living in a troubled world. It’s a way of keeping hope alive that we can, as a world, make a difference. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? First, stop procrastinating. Look at previous scenes and think: what’s not working? What specifically is holding me up? And if the answer is nothing, then I have to look inward and see if the problem is inside – my inner critic. What is your favorite time to write? Late at night, when no one else is up and about. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Ernest Hemingway advised: when you’re writing and you are excited about where the next scene is going, stop. This will keep that excitement for the next writing session going. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The aspect of creation and escaping the very troubled Real World! Creating worlds that hold hope for a better future.
