I have a voice and I have a message, both of which have been misperceived, diminished, and silenced until I began writing and publishing my own work. My point of view and my life experiences lend themselves to a fresh perspective. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? My rule of thumb: “Anything worth doing is worth doing half-assed. Just get started.” Those are my words, which is why I used quotes. What is your favorite time to write? I write some in the early morning (Julia Cameron: Morning Pages) and some late at night. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? We don’t need to be inspired in order to write. Start writing, and the inspiration will follow. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I like the freedom of not having to chase an agent or beg a publisher to print what I write. Dan Morgan’s Hiraeth: The Voice of Home is out now with Atmosphere Press.
