Member Spotlight: James Walter White

author James White and his book The First State

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Since I retired, writing and reading have been my resources for growth, social engagement, and fulfillment. As for the world, I think writing is the ideal political medium. Allowing time for thought and consideration before jumping into action.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Take a walk, literally and figuratively. Disconnect and let your mind wander. Also, hold on to your confidence that ‘this to will pass.’

What is your favorite time to write? No favorite time. But usually after a morning of chores.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Don’t take yourself seriously and never take anything for granted.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? How easy the research legwork has become. And how convenient today’s technology makes the basic writing process.

James W. White’s The First State is out now with Rochak Publishing.
