The Authors Guild Foundation, the charitable and educational arm of the Authors Guild, announces the hire of Lynn Boulger as its Executive Director.

A respected nonprofit professional with more than 20 years of senior management experience, Boulger is a seasoned philanthropy executive, who has strategically advanced organizational goals at academic institutions, health care and small nonprofits, and raised hundreds of millions of dollars through the creation and implementation of innovative giving programs.

“Lynn has devoted her career to mission-driven organizations, building strong relationships with all levels of stakeholders to effectively grow nonprofits, and we are confident that she will make a huge contribution to advancing the financial health and mission of the Foundation,” said Mary Rasenberger, CEO of the Authors Guild and the Authors Guild Foundation.

“Now more than ever, authors struggle to make a sustainable living from their writing. As Executive Director of the Authors Guild Foundation, Lynn will work closely with our Foundation Board of Directors and staff to develop a comprehensive, long-term plan to ensure we can continue to provide the crucial advocacy, support and free or low-cost educational programs that authors desperately need,” said Laura Pedersen, President of the Authors Guild Foundation.

For the past 13 years, Boulger served as Dean of Institutional Advancement for the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, where she oversaw all aspects of institutional advancement, including capital campaigns, major gifts and grants, an annual fund, planned giving and related institutional events. Other earlier positions include Director of Development for the healthcare charity EMHS Foundation and Vice President of Development, Public Relations and Governmental Affairs for Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.

“While I have devoted my career to advancing nonprofit organizations in a variety of sectors, as an avid writer and reader, I felt an immediate connection with the Authors Guild Foundation’s mission to ensure that a rich, diverse body of American literature flourishes by advocating for authors’ rights, educating authors in the business of writing and promoting an understanding of the value of writers. I look forward to helping build on the Foundation’s success,” said Boulger, who holds an MA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University and whose creative work has appeared in literary magazines such as Ploughshares, Aegis, and The Seattle Review.
