On July 27, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a ruling in the Authors Guild v. NEH lawsuit, finding that the NEH and DOGE officials’ mass termination of already committed NEH grants to individual scholars and authors violated the First Amendment and the Administrative Procedures Act (APA). The ruling blocked the termination of 1,400 grants and affirmed the First Amendment rights of scholars doing vital work.
In this webinar, we will talk with our attorneys from Fairmark Partners to discuss implications of this ruling, outline the next steps in the legal process, and answer your questions. This is an important opportunity for all affected grantees to get informed and engaged, and for observers to learn about the legal steps taking place.
The event will take place via Zoom with automatic closed captioning. To request any other accessibility features, please email support@authorsguild.org and we will make every effort to accommodate.
