The Authors Guild is proud to be a sponsor of the inaugural LKBF Latinx Storytellers Conference. This event is set to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations with the largest in-person national gathering of Latinx writers, illustrators, editors and literary agents for children and adult books, to be held at Scholastic’s Headquarters in New York City on September 13–14, 2024. The event is billed as a two-day, intensive publishing crash course.
Latinx storytellers will enjoy community, craft masterclasses, professional development sessions and have access to hard-to-reach industry professionals such as publishers, editors, and literary agents.
Keynotes include literary icon Esmeralda Santiago, Pulitzer Prize-winning media icon Maria Hinojosa, Newbery Medal winner Donna Barba Higuera, Whitings Award winner Jaquira Díaz, and U.S. national bestseller and former White House aide to President Obama Alejandra Campoverdi.
Attendees will have the rare opportunity to visit a Big Five publisher or literary agency, meet the staff and share a lunch and learn session. Participating organizations include Hachette Book Group, Penguin Random House, Aevitas Creative Management, Writers House, and the Authors Guild.
A public event on the power of memoir headlined by literary icon Esmeralda Santiago is scheduled for Friday, September 13, at the New School’s Tishman Auditorium. Everyone is welcome.
Latinx college students interested in creative writing and publishing can apply for the Student Volunteer Program.
