Paul Coates accepts the Publisher Award for Distinguished Service to the Literary Community at the 32nd Annual Authors Guild Foundation Gala in 2024 The Authors Guild Foundation Gala was established to support our mission of advocating for authors’ rights and promoting the literary arts. Each year, the Gala presents activists, publishers, and authors with awards recognizing the significant contributions the honorees have made to the literary community, championing free expression, advancing the interests of writers, and fostering a culture that values the written word. By honoring these exemplary figures, the AGF not only celebrates their achievements but inspires others to engage in advocacy, uphold literary standards, and contribute to the sustainability and diversity of the literary world. Past honorees and presenters have included Margaret Atwood, David and Michelle Baldacci, Joan Didion, Amanda Gorman, Toni Morrison, Walter Mosely, Joyce Carol Oates, Ken Burns, Heather Cox Richardson, LeVar Burton, Jesmyn Ward, and James Patterson, among others.
