As a teen, Smith starred on the long-running, Emmy Award-winning sitcom Kate and Allie, and throughout her decades-long career has starred or co-starred in numerous television shows, most notably as Mallory O’Brien on The West Wing. Smith has sung at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Kennedy Canter, and the White House. Other theatre credits include starring in Oleanna at the Tiffany Theatre, opposite Alan Alda in QED at the Mark Taper Forum, and the musical, The Education of Randy Newman, portraying Newman’s wife. Her charitable works have included being an Ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the American Lung Association, and, through Save The Children, helping to build school for girls in Jacmel, Haiti. Smith is on the board of the Authors Guild Foundation and is co-owner of Stonover Farm; a luxury inn in the Berkshires. She is finishing her first novel.
