Writing gives me the opportunity to research, experience, and share situations I wouldn’t have had otherwise. When I write mysteries, I explore what motivates characters in their complicated worlds. That process helps me to understand and sympathize with real people and their often-conflicting points of view. Writing matters because it preserves history and shares knowledge in a tangible way. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? (1) Brainstorm with my critique groups (2) Reread previous scenes (3) Skip a day and work on a jigsaw puzzle What is your favorite time to write? Morning through afternoon What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? The old standard, “Never give up.” What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The numerous ways to get books published: agent/big publishing house, small publisher, self-publishing.
