Member Spotlight: Skye Warren

author Skye Warren and an image of her book Red Flags

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? I think stories are essential–not only for escapism, but to help us find our place in the real world. We can take risks, put on identities like hats, and experience growth from the comfort of our armchairs.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Usually reading fills my well, but if it doesn’t, that usually means I’m overloaded. Less work, less clutter, making space and then allowing the creativity to flow.

What is your favorite time to write? The middle of the night. My family is asleep in their beds, the earth is still, and I can think more clearly than ever.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Write the book you want to read.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? There are so many avenues for authors to reach readers, from the traditional publishing routes to apps to Kickstarters, etc.

Skye Warren’s Red Flags is out tomorrow with Book Beautiful.
