More than 30,000 authors and creators have signed the Statement on AI Training, calling on regulators to require AI companies to license the creative works they train on.
The statement on AI training is intentionally short and simple:
“The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.”
Now is a critical moment to send this message to regulators around the world because unlicensed training on creative works has rapidly taken hold in the AI industry. We have also seen an increase in AI companies’ lobbying for the right to use creative work without a license.
The Guild and many other organizations are helping to collect signatures from across the creative industries—authors, musicians, artists, actors, and more, as well as signatories from media companies.
Please add your name to this important statement. We also ask you to share it with others you think might sign.
