Karissa Chen is the author of Homeseeking, a novel forthcoming from Putnam in January 2025. She is a Fulbright fellow, Kundiman Fiction fellow and a VONA/Voices fellow whose fiction and essays have appeared in The Atlantic, Eater, The Cut, NBC News Think!, Longreads, PEN America, Catapult, Gulf Coast, and Guernica, among others. She was awarded an artist fellowship from the NJ Council on the Arts as well as residences at Millay Colony where she was a Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Creative Fellow, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, the Ragdale Foundation, and Willapa Bay AiR. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Sarah Lawrence College and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief at Hyphen magazine. She splits her time between New Jersey and Taipei, Taiwan.
Janay Frazier is a Senior Designer with over eight years of experience across non-profit, art direction, and creative marketing services. She also teaches design instruction at MICA. Some of her proudest moments have been designing covers for Jordan Peele’s Out There Screaming and the NYT bestseller Humanity Archive by Jermaine Fowler. Janay has designed for various publishing houses including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and more. She has created over 2,000 marketing collateral for award-winning and NYT Bestselling Riverhead and Viking Books’ authors. She was born and raised in Queens, NY. She currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
Andrea Jo DeWerd is a book marketing strategist, consultant, writer, speaker, and the founder of the future of agency LLC, a book marketing and publishing consulting agency headquartered in Brooklyn, NY. Andrea is also the co-founder of MADonna Writing Retreats, a luxury writing retreat experience in Barcelona. A 13–year veteran of Big 5 publishing with 105+ career NYT bestsellers, most recently at HarperCollins, Andrea previously held positions at HMH Books & Media, Random House, Spiegel & Grau, and Simon & Schuster, and was honored by Publishers Weekly as a 2019 Star Watch finalist. Andrea received her M.S. in Publishing from New York University and B.A. in English from the George Washington University. Andrea’s first novel, tentatively titled What We Sacrifice for Magic, is represented by Kate McKean at Morhaim Literary, and she is hard at work on her second.
Randy Winston (moderator), born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, is a 2016 graduate of the MFA in Creative Writing at The New School, editor, writer, and the Director of Writing Programs at The Center for Fiction. He sits on Orion Magazine’s Board as a trustee, and served as Fiction Editor at Slice Literary Magazine for six years. Winston is currently working on his first manuscript of fiction. He holds a Bachelors in English & Professional Communication from Southern Polytechnic State University, now Kennesaw State University, where he was the first student ever to deliver a commencement address.
