Writing, like reading, has always been my favorite escape. There’s nothing better than being able to lose yourself in another time, another place, even another planet. I love crafting tales that allow people to do this. Because everyone in the world needs a break from reality every once in a while. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Long walks out in nature. I have a lake in front of my house that is my go-to spot when I need to clear my head. The quiet peacefulness as I stroll does wonders to cure my writer’s block. What is your favorite time to write? Very early in the morning before I have to get started with my day job. The rest of my house is still asleep (even the cat!) and I can write completely uninterrupted and relaxed. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Never stop writing. Never lose that flow. It can be a random scene that pops into your head, it can be a poem, it can be a fun short story, it can be a journal entry. The important thing is to never let the words stop and have FUN, no matter what you’re writing. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The accessibility of self-publishing for authors. Especially in my genre of gay romance, which thrives and grows bigger by the day because we’re not dependent on traditional publishers any longer. Love is love and the more authors that can spread this sentiment, the better! Jamie Lynn Miller’s Christmas Together is out now.
