Investigative journalist Brent Crane undertook deep reporting on what happened at PageTurner Press, where predatory and fraudulent activity resulted in the FBI conducting arrests earlier this year. As many know, scams targeting authors have proliferated, and daily life for many authors now includes fending off cold-calls that are as flattering as they are suspicious. Crane joins us to discuss his findings on how and why authors were conned, to help you understand the enormous risks of engaging with a potential scam.
Moderated by Cheryl Davis, general counsel of the Authors Guild, this webinar will provide insightful details of one major scam and a space to discuss similar scams in the publishing world.
