When you log in to your social media accounts today, you may notice something unusual: a visual traffic jam of static across creators’ accounts. And if you pick up certain newspapers or pass by your local bus station, you’ll see the same message echoing back.
The Human Artistry Campaign, a coalition of artists and media organizations, has launched “Stealing Isn’t Innovation,” a coordinated print, digital, and social media campaign demanding that AI systems not be trained on unlicensed creative work. Thank you to our members who joined hundreds of creators to sign on:

We invite you to join the jam.
Writing a book takes years of thinking, drafting, and revising. When AI takes that work without permission and competes with the creators themselves, that’s not innovation, it’s exploitation.
Today, creators across disciplines will post the Stealing Isn’t Innovation graphics in unison.
If the future of “innovation” depends on taking creators’ work without asking or paying, that’s not progress. Let’s make sure that message is impossible to ignore.
