Getting a book deal is always an exciting step in your career, but it’s important to protect your creative work from the pitfalls of publishing. Writers and agents focus on the advance amounts, of course. But more than ever, the other details can be of greater impact in the long run. Representatives from the Authors Guild and the Association of American Literary Agents will give advice and encouragement for negotiating the best deal for your book and your career.
This is an in-person event at the 2026 AWP Conference and Bookfair. This event will not be livestreamed or recorded.
