Protecting your identity in this time of rapidly changing AI requires a skill set most authors haven’t learned yet. If you’re overwhelmed by how quickly things are changing, or you need some guidance on how to protect yourself and your work while trying to be active and visible, join us for this workshop. Come learn how AI is damaging authors, what steps you can take today to protect your personal and public identity, and more importantly, which tactics you can count on moving forward.

Author branding and marketing expert Andréa Guevara returns to share her insights, expertise, tools and mindset shifts necessary to protect your author identity in this ever-changing publishing (and marketing) climate. We’ll discuss what’s at stake, including:

  • Impersonation and fake social media accounts
  • Copycat books that trade off your title, name, or cover
  • Your logo or book cover distorted by AI artwork created by other people
  • Digital galleys or other materials copied or stolen
  • Your identity—meaning both your self-identity and your public-facing author brand

You’ll leave with practical insights and ideas for how to protect your intellectual property, position yourself for success against AI, and a checklist of actionable prevention and protection steps to put in place. Most importantly, Andréa will buoy your hope in building the kind of writing career you dream of.

The event will take place via Zoom with automatic closed captioning. A recording and any additional resources will be sent to everyone who registers to attend. To request accessibility features, please contact us at support@authorsguild.org and we will make every effort to accommodate.
