The Award will be given to a children’s picture book manuscript by a writer of color. The contest is open to residents of the U.S., who have not previously had a children’s picture book published. Submissions may be fiction, nonfiction, or poetry for children ages 5 to 12, and should not exceed 1,500 words. The winner will receive $1,000 and a publishing contract with Lee & Low Books.
