The prize is open to both U.S. and international entrants but stories must be written in English. Only literary fiction will be considered (no genre fiction please). Entries should not exceed 6,000 words. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication in the fall issue of Carve Magazine. Second place will receive $500, third place will receive $250, and two Editor’s Choice picks will receive $125. Winning stories will be read by three literary agencies.
