The Guild is partnering with BookPeople and the Beautiful and Banned Podcast to host an in-person launch event for Banned Books Week at BookPeople’s store in Austin. BookPeople will host voter registration and events, such as storytime for kids, trivia, and a banned books raffle throughout the day.

The celebrations will conclude with a conversation among a panel of experts, featuring BookPeople CEO Charley Rejsek, an Authors Against Book Bans (AABB) representative, and Authors Guild General Counsel Cheryl L. Davis, moderated by Jessica Goudeau and Christine Renee Miller of The Beautiful and Banned Podcast.

Event Schedule

  • 9 a.m.–5 p.m.: Voter registration
  • 11:30 a.m.: Banned book storytime
  • 5:30–6:30 p.m.: Community programming
  • 6:30–7:30 p.m.: Interviews and trivia
