We’re looking forward to returning to Maine this summer for the Pascal Hall Authors Series, in partnership with the Lesher Family Foundation and Maine Media Workshops + College!
Events are free, but space is limited and registration is required to attend. Each event will begin with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by the conversation at 5:30 p.m., and a reception and book signing at 6:30 p.m.
Amitav Ghosh, the acclaimed author of many works of fiction and nonfiction, sits for an interview with scholar Palak Taneja.
Ghosh’s award-winning books have been translated into more than 30 languages. They include The Shadow Lines, In An Antique Land, Dancing in Cambodia, The Glass Palace, The Hungry Tide, The Ibis Trilogy; which consists of the novels Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke, Flood of Fire; The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable; Gun Island; Smoke and Ashes; and Wild Fictions. In 2019, Foreign Policy magazine named him one of the most important global thinkers of the past decade. The same year, the Jnanpith Award, India’s highest literary honor, was conferred on him. He was the first English-language writer to receive it. He was awarded the Erasmus Prize in 2024.
Palak Taneja is a professor at the College of the Atlantic, where her research interests include postcolonial literature and theory with a particular focus on South Asia. She regularly teaches the works of Amitav Ghosh.
