Karla Cornejo Villavicencio in conversation with Caitlin Shetterly

We’re looking forward to returning to Maine this summer for the Pascal Hall Authors Series, in partnership with the Lesher Family Foundation and Maine Media Workshops + College!

Events are free, but space is limited and registration is required to attend. Each event will begin with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by the conversation at 5:30 p.m., and a reception and book signing at 6:30 p.m.


Karla Cornejo Villavicencio, whose writing focuses on race, culture, and immigration, sits for a conversation with Caitlin Shetterly.

Villavicencio is the author of The Undocumented Americans (2020), which was a finalist for the National Book Award; and the novel Catalina (2024). Her writing has appeared in The New York TimesThe New YorkerElleThis American Lifen+1The New Inquiry, and Vogue

Caitlin Shetterly is the author of ModifiedMade for You and Me, and the bestselling Fault Lines: Stories of DivorcePete and Alice in Maine is her first novel. The sequel will be published in 2026. A Maine native, she graduated from Brown University and now lives with her family in her home state.
