Tara Westover’s Educated: A Memoir was nominated for the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award. Alexander Chee’s How to Write an Autobiographical Novel was nominated for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. Joshua Rivkin’s Chalk: The Art and Erasure of Cy Twombly was nominated for the PEN/Bogard Weld Prize for Biography. Eliza Griswold’s Amity and Prosperity and Bernice Yeung’s In a Day’s Work were nominated for the PEN/John Kenneth Gailbraith Award for Nonfiction. Jane Leavy’s The Big Fella: Babe Ruth and the World He Created was nominated for the PEN/ESPN Award for Literary Sports Writing.
