Member Spotlight: Amanda Uhl

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? My passion is storytelling, and writing is the medium that makes it possible. The world would be a dull place without stories.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Writer’s block happens when the story is not fully plotted. I usually go back to the plot and make sure I have thought it through.

What is your favorite time to write? I write all hours of the day, but my favorite is in the morning when I’m refreshed.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Treat writing like exercise — do a little bit every day. I don’t much like exercise, but I feel better when I do it. Plus, the more I exercise the better I get at it. The same is true of writing.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I’m most excited to touch readers with my stories.
