Member Spotlight: Dana Lynn Bernstein

author Dana Lynn Bernstein and her book It's the Thought That Counts

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing and sharing stories builds human-ness. We learn from each other, remember our resilience, and make connections.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Taking a break and coaching.

What is your favorite time to write? 4am! It’s quiet and I can focus.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Be kind to yourself! Trust your process. I am an iterator and need to review ideas again and again. Others are more streamlined.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Helping people. I am a conflict resolution coach and the book formalizes my coaching process. Conflict is a construct and when you understand what drives your emotions, you are better able to decompress. A cooler head allows you to manage the situation better.

Dana Lynn Bernstein’s It’s the Thought That Counts: Mastering the Art of YOU vs. you is out February 14 with Merl Bensac Publishers.
