Writing touches people’s hearts and minds and can create a new lens for the reader to see things through. This can create momentum for change and foster understanding of other beings in the world. The simplicity of this tool can illuminate minds and fill in gaps. It can also create more harmony and acceptance with the world around us. Something we really need more of. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Knocking on wood here…I have not experienced writer’s block! When I can’t find the words or am stuck in my momentum, I simply get quiet for a moment and listen, this usually opens up a channel of flow and off I go again. I also take a walk in nature and just get quiet and usually the ideas and words begin to flood in. Lastly – I need a “write in the rain” board in my shower. Things always seem to show up then! What is your favorite time to write? Afternoon for production. I journal in the morning and then tend to animal care, emails, work projects etc. Then mid-afternoon when my mind has quieted from the busyness I go off into my writers cabin with a cup of tea and a dog or two and get in the zone! What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Hmmmmm….write what you know and have experienced in life and write from your heart so others can hear and feel that and lastly tell good stories so the reader can envision and feel the message. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The incredible capability to reach so many hearts and minds.
