Member Spotlight: Jean P Moore

author Jean P Moore and her book Crossing from Shore to Shore

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? If words can be used to confuse and misinform, then they can also be used to illuminate truth. Yes, writers, follow your bliss, write to entertain, to amuse, but more, write as though lives depended on it. Because they just might. Write to be banned! And be proud of it.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Sit down and face the page. There is no other way.

What is your favorite time to write? I don’t have a set time, but mid-morning is best. When I’m past the hard part, getting the whole thing to behave, I become obsessed, writing anywhere, everywhere, any time, all the time. It’s weird that way. There’s no one way to do it.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? You can entertain the comments, advice, suggestions of others, but ultimately, the characters, the story, the twists and turns, all yours. (And writing groups can be counterproductive Be aware.)

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? It’s more humbling than exciting. I know the multitude of choices out there. There are incredible writers vying for attention. When someone chooses to spend time on my books, I’m honored and grateful.

Jean P Moore’s Crossing from Shore to Shore is out now with ‎Running Wild Press.
