I am a writer because I am a reader. I believe writing is an important medium for the world because reading is essential for people to be able to use their minds and imaginations to connect with stories from all over the world and from all people. What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I don’t think I’ve ever experienced what I’ve come to understand from reading about it and talking to other writers as “writer’s block.” I suppose I know I am always able to go back and change what I’ve written, so I just forge ahead with my crappy draft. What is your favorite time to write? Early morning without a doubt. When the world is soft and quiet, and I am fresh and alone. What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Read a lot and widely. Be kind. Be grateful. What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I write for children and teens, and it excites me to be part of the narrative of helping to grow readers.
