Member Spotlight: Megan Mary

author Megan Mary and her book The Dream Dimensions

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Words are powerful. Writing allows us to create entire worlds that we can invite people to visit. My work is focused on being visionary, inspirational, and uplifting. My books are meant to be a guide for the seekers, a solace for the lost, and validation for the mystical.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? The best remedy is a routine. Set aside a time of day to write and show up at your computer, even if you think you don’t have anything to write. Writer’s block can also sometimes be caused by imposter syndrome. Allowing the space to address subconscious blocks can go a long way in paving the path for writers to express themselves.

What is your favorite time to write? My favorite time to write is first thing in the morning, before the sun comes up. Right after I feed our cats, I settle in for a quick meditation and then head to my computer. It’s the best time for me before the day speeds up and my mind gets pulled in multiple directions.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Start before you are ready. If you feel called to write a book, there is someone out there waiting for it to be written, who needs to read it.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? I think the most exciting, as well as daunting, aspect of being a writer in today’s age, is the ability to completely control the publishing process. For those that march to their own drum, are willing to wear many hats, and have a very specific timeline in mind, there is no better time.

Megan Mary’s The Dream Dimensions: A Metaphysical Mystery of Magick is out now with Inner Realms Publishing.
