Member Spotlight: Sam McClellan

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing for me is a way of passing on what I have learned in my life that I think could be helpful for others. It is a form of service. As to why writing is an important medium for the world, can you imagine a world without books? It’s called a world without culture.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Honestly, I don’t get writer’s block (knock on wood).

What is your favorite time to write? Early morning, but I write when I have time and something to say.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? I can’t say I’ve heard advice that was super helpful. Generally I’d say write about something that’s important to you, that is about your passion. That seems pretty obvious though.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age?The huge level of information that’s available about so many things, and that anyone can create a book and put it out.
